January is all about beginning to prepare the tunnels and glasshouses for the coming season.
This is the type of outside work that is happening throughout the year at Charltons Kent and Charltons Norfolk. Our Packhouse is in operation 364 days of the year.

This month is when we are working on getting the tabletops ready for planting
In March we begin planting our strawberries in both the tunnels and glasshouses and our apple trees in the orchards.
Strawberry picking begins in the glasshouses with husbandry tasks underway elsewhere on the farm.
In May we are picking strawberries and raspberries across all of Charltons.
Picking continues across all Charltons sites.
In July the cherry harvest is now underway along with the strawberries and raspberries.
In August picking strawberries and raspberries continues and planting new plants in the glasshouses.
Soft fruit picking continues across all Charltons sites. Apple picking begins mid September.
The apple picking season continues in October with strawberry picking slowing down.
Final strawberry picking takes place in November, after which we de-skin the tunnels ready for winter.
